Literature Text

The woman was wearing a black dress. It was flowing, covering her feet, brushing against the rocks and dirt she was standing on. It contrasted greatly with her pale skin. The sleeveless gown allowed most of her back to show, though a scarf around her neck usually hung limp and covered it up. She was the picture of darkness – black hair, black clothes, and black heart. Even if you were not one to judge by appearances, it would be hard to mistake the woman as someone good.

She was, after all, about to summon a demon.

Around her was the perfect spot for her magic to come forth. The cliff that she was standing upon was even adorned with a devil. The statue's grey wings hugged the bottom of the cliff. Its grotesque face was matched with an equally disturbing helmet, large spikes protruding from it. But that was not all.

In front of the woman and the devil statue was a mound of dark red crystal-like stones. They jutted out from the center, of which a giant gate, larger than any house, stood. For now the gate was silent, but that would not remain so for long. Soon the skeletons, with small rounded bits of the same stone around the gate in their skull, would light up with a terrible red. The red would be deeper than blood, more disturbing than even the most mangled body.

The woman took in a deep breath and began to chant. As she did, she rose her arms above her head, as though about to catch something falling from above. A wind stirred, moving her hair, gown, and scarf. The skeleton's eyes and the stones in its skull began to glow. A steady flow of lava and fire came from the bottom of the gate, miraculously leaving the stones, also glowing red, undamaged. A creature began to form. The woman's chanting grew louder by the second. Soon she was shouting to the gate.

The creature began to solidify. First its tail – long, spiked, and black, then the rest of it. It grabbed the sides of the gate with huge hands, claws coming from each finger instead of nails. The creature roared in response to the woman's chanting. Its mouth had hundreds of teeth, all pointed, in it. A sickly yellow mist came from its mouth and eyes – all four of them. You wouldn't even be able to tell if it had eyes, or if there were only sockets. Around its head, on its shoulders, lay a pair of deadly spikes. It roared again, the mist growing thicker. Its muscular torso leaned out of the gate. To anybody else, the demonic monster would have been terrifying.

But to the woman, it was brilliant. She smiled, content to know that her plans would finally work.
This is another old piece of writing. It was a prompt from an image, though I forget which one. We were supposed to describe it.

I know it isn't fabulous, but it's okay.

Thanks for reading! :)
